IRON NEST Mission 6: Siege of Cartagena Walkthrough

Resolve chained field-intelligence targets, neutralize coastal batteries, clear the breakout threshold and deliver smoke on request.

Evidence boundary

Current mission data, an independent walkthrough and Steam threads agree on chained measurements, the breakout signal and smoke-support phase.

Mission 6 phases

Mission 6 is Siege of Cartagena and should be handled as a sequence, not as one target list. First locate and destroy three high-value installations concealed from aerial photography. Then deal with the coastal-battery threat, reduce additional enemy strength, signal the breakout only when ordered and provide smoke support to pinned friendly units.

Solve the chained hidden targets

The initial field intelligence describes an Enemy Relay from distances to three friendly spotters. Draw a circle from each named spotter; the supported overlap is the relay candidate. The Enemy Assembly Area is then described by bearings from the relay and another named point. Finally, the Enemy Commander is described using a bearing from the relay and a distance from the assembly area.

This is chained geometry: an error in the relay contaminates both later positions. Use yellow lines first, preserve the source of every measurement and confirm each target before promoting it to a firing card. The briefing warns that observation error compounds, so a neat-looking but unsupported point is dangerous.

Coastal batteries and breakout gate

Two armored coastal batteries can become an active counter-battery threat. Use the listening report from its named origin, plot each battery and load AP. After the three primary installations are destroyed, the mission requires destruction of eight additional enemy units around the town before the war horn should be sounded. Confirm the count in the mission feed; an early horn sends the garrison into uncleared positions.

Once the breakout begins, keep SMK ready. Pinned units request smoke on a specific grid and give a deadline. Fire the smoke at the requested friendly position, not at the enemy gun. Continue to read the feed because supporting-fire and smoke requests can alternate.

Troubleshooting

  • Assembly area cannot be found: recheck the relay first; it is the origin of a later bearing.
  • Counter-battery clock begins unexpectedly: stop lower-priority work, locate the coastal guns from the listening report and use AP.
  • Horn produces mission failure: the three primary targets or the additional-enemy threshold were not confirmed.
  • Friendly advance is cut down: the smoke request was missed, late or placed on the wrong grid.
  • Lines nearly meet but not exactly: preserve an uncertainty area and use another report; chained error grows rapidly.

Exact coordinates are omitted because the mission generates the useful solution from the current run's reports. The stable walkthrough is the phase order and dependency between targets.
