IRON NEST How to Unload Gun

The short answer is no; use the developer-supported recovery options instead.

Evidence map reviewed: Aug 9, 2026

Evidence boundary

This answer is based on a direct developer response and corroborated by the community Basics guide.

Direct answer

No. A developer response states that a loaded round or charge cannot simply be removed from the gun.

Recovery options confirmed by the developer

  • Too much powder: enter the actual charge amount in the ballistic calculator and generate a new elevation for the original target.
  • Wrong load in one barrel: use the second gun for the intended mission while preserving the first load for a later valid target.
  • Wrong target match: select another target suitable for the loaded ammunition and rebuild the firing solution.
  • Last resort: fire the round at a safe, valid point and reload correctly.

The last option has tactical consequences. Firing can reveal your position when enemy counter-battery artillery is active, so clearing a mistake is not automatically harmless.

What cannot be assumed

The developer's answer confirms that there is no normal unload action. It does not establish that every partially completed loading state behaves identically, so do not force a mechanism or rely on a reset that is not shown by the interface.

Prevention

Use the same pre-load rhythm every time:

  1. Confirm the target and intended effect.
  2. Confirm the shell.
  3. Enter range and actual powder charge in the calculator.
  4. Check the printed firing card.
  5. Only then begin loading.

Loading first and solving later creates a decision the interface is deliberately designed not to undo.
